Local Roots, Global Prospects
The highly anticipated Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme was launched in January 2025 with the admissions of the programme’s first cohort, a milestone on the university’s academic offerings.
This advanced programme is designed for professionals aspiring to lead and innovate in the corporate world by bridging the gap between business theory and practical application. The DBA aims to nurture leaders who can address complex business challenges, drive strategic decisions and contribute to sustainable economic growth. This programme reinforces UTB’s commitment to fostering leadership that is globally competitive yet locally rooted.
Prospective students can also upgrade their skills and knowledge through the UTB Postgraduate Micro-Credentials programme, equivalent to a qualification at Level 7 of the Brunei Darussalam Qualifications Framework. Students attend a plethora of 14-week modules that could lead to postgraduate certifications and, finally, a master’s qualification by accumulating enough credit values. The programme is designed for working professionals from the government and private sector and the public to support upskilling and reskilling in certain knowledge areas to meet learners’ specific needs through lifelong learning and for their career and personal development.
As part of its commitment to addressing regional challenges, UTB is at the forefront of addressing cybersecurity challenges through its ASEAN Cybershield scholarship programme. This project is funded with the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund from the Government of South Korea. This initiative aims to nurture a skilled workforce capable of safeguarding digital ecosystems and critical infrastructures across the region. By providing comprehensive training in cybersecurity, the programme supports ASEAN’s digital transformation while ensuring robust defence mechanisms against emerging cyber threats.
UTB also offers accelerated pathways with three-year undergraduate programmes designed to align with global academic standards and enhance its graduates’ employability. Most of UTB’s undergraduate programmes have been restructured to a three-year format. This streamlined approach allows students to enter the workforce sooner, armed with a strong foundation of knowledge and practical skills. The revised curriculum emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability, preparing graduates for dynamic career landscapes.
International Recognition
UTB is proud to have received multiple accolades in recognition of its excellence. The School of Computing and Informatics earned the British Computer Society, The Chartered Institute for IT, accreditation in July 2023 for all its four-year undergraduate and Master by Coursework programmes.
