ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

With a high GDP per capita and no income tax

implemented to its residents, it is unsurprising that

Bruneians have a high disposable income compared

to other economies in the region. Thus, with a strong

consumer culture, several commercial hubs have

risen in recent years to meet the nation’s retail

demands.

Shopping Centres

Gadong, one of Brunei’s main commercial hubs

garners high traffic daily. Located smack in the

middle is The Mall, a complex which houses various

amenities including a 5-star hotel, a cineplex and

numerous food and retail outlets.

A stone’s throw away from the Brunei International

Airport is a cluster of shopping centres, namely

the Airport Mall, Times Square and Citis Square.

Developed over an old airport area, the area is known

for its numerous eatery options, supermarkets and

multiple mobile and electrical goods outlets.

The Mabohai Shopping complex offers stores such as

Starbucks, Bossini, The face Shop, L’Occitane, Royce’

Chocolate, Boost, Toys ‘R’ Us as well as a Mini

Cooper showroom. The complex is best known for its

long-time resident, supermarket Supa Save.

Kiulap is another major commercial hub, constantly

bustling with life. The area houses a mix of old and

new establishments. Found in the vicinity are various

cafes, supermarkets, as well as two hotels.

Setia Kenangan II is a recently established complex

in Kiulap, housing a variety of retail outlets such as

sporting goods, home improvement, boutiques and

health food among others. Found in the area are a

variety of modern, hipster cafes.

Annajat Complex is located in Beribi. It features a

supermarket, an assortment of eateries and stores

offering goods from clothing to accessories.

Aman Hills Shopping Centre is located at Jalan

Aman, Sungai Tilong Muara. Designed as a family-

oriented shopping destination, Aman Hills offers

spacious shopping spaces, luxurious dining and one

of a kind leisure entertainment for families.

Residents of Kuala Belait flock to KB Sentral. This

mall is constructed to mirror the Times Square

Shopping Centre in Berakas, with its similar line up

of restaurants and retail units.

Yayasan Shopping Complex is located in the heart

of Brunei. Best known for its high-end stores and

restaurants, Yayasan caters to shopping needs of

locals and tourists.

Supermarkets

Brunei is home to a number of different supermarkets,

from those offering local and regional goods to goods

sourced from other parts of the world.

Hua Ho is one of the country’s oldest and most well-

known department stores. With 10 outlets across the

country, it is also one of the most easily accessible

supermarkets. The latest Hua Ho is located at the

new OneCity Shopping Centre.

With outlets in Gadong, Beribi, Mabohai and Panaga,

Supa Save is Brunei's premier supermarket. It is best

known for offering imported goods from Europe,

America and Australia, making it a popular place for

expats looking for a slice of home. The latest Supa

Save outlet was recently opened at One Riverside.

Featuring gourmet food items and high quality

household products, this Supa Save also offers a

ready-made food and drinks for eat-in or take-away.

Other supermarkets in Brunei include Soon Lee, Jaya

Hypermart, Utama Grand, Milimewah and Sim Kim

Huat.

Handicraft and souvenirs

Visitors looking for a unique piece of Brunei can

head over to the Brunei Arts and Handicraft Centre

(BAHC). It is stocked with handcrafted products that

reflect Brunei’s oldest art forms such as silverwork,

brass work and weaving. The centre has outlets in

Kota Batu, the Brunei International Airport, Gadong,

Yayasan and the Royal Regalia Building.
