ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES

After the complete relaunch, the park welcomed

over 1,400 students from 21 schools in December

2017 over the school holidays.

Jerudong Park is also popular among Miri

residents. In September 2018, the park sold almost

1,000 tickets at a trade fair inMiri. It was the park’s

first time to sell promotional tickets in Malaysia.

In 2019, the popular carnival-themed fun fair

came back for the third year. The largest ever

Jerudong Park Mega Fun Family Carnival was

held during the first week of December. The park

is also known to be the venue for many events

such as the Royal Brunei Armed Forces band

performance in 2018 and Southeast Asia Drone

Racing Championship (SEADRC) 2019, in which

top drone pilots from China, Thailand, Singapore,

Indonesia and Brunei took part in the fast-paced

drone race.

Apart from rides, Jerudong Park also has the largest

open-air food court in the country. With more than

40 food vendors, guests are bound to find a wide

selection of cuisine ranging from local and regional

delicacies to Western offers that suit their palate.

Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas

Initially dubbed the Sungai Kedayan Eco-Corridor,

the officially named Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas

was unveiled on October 22, 2017 by His Majesty.

The event was held in conjunctionwith celebrations

for His Majesty’s Golden Jubilee.

Located along the mouth of Sungai Kedayan and is

the backdrop to the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque,

the 12-hectare waterfront park was part of the

BSB Masterplan, a redevelopment plan which

aims to turn the capital into a sustainable city

and showcase the country’s natural and cultural

heritage. By introducing green landscapes, the plan

hopes to promote a healthy lifestyle for residents

that may extend to an improved socio-economic

circumstance. The plan aims to attract tourist

traffic. The new park was overseen by His Royal

Highness the Crown Prince as a project under the

10

th

National Development Plan.

The park has several features including a six-

metre wide promenade & cycling lane, children’s

playgrounds, a pedestrian bridge which reaches

Batu Satu, and multiple access points both by land

and water. Its main feature is a round park 130

metres in diameter.

The park was initially a plan to dredge the Sungai

Kedayan river bed, with a wall to be built to lessen

flood impacts but the plan was later revised and

developed to become the park.
