Jerudong Park is also popular among Miri

residents. In September 2018, the park sold

almost 1,000 tickets at a trade fair in Miri. It was

the park’s first time to sell promotional tickets in

Malaysia.

Apart from rides, Jerudong Park also has the

largest open-air food court in the country. With

more than 40 food vendors, guests are bound to

find a wide selection of cuisine ranging from local

and regional delicacies to Western offers.

Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas

Initially dubbed the Sungai Kedayan Eco-

Corridor, the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas,

officially named as such, was unveiled on

October 22, 2017 by His Majesty. The event

was held in conjunction with celebrations for

His Majesty’s Golden Jubilee.

Located along the mouth of Sungai Kedayan and

the backdrop to the Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien

Mosque, the 12-hectare waterfront park was

part of the BSB Masterplan, a redevelopment

plan which aims to turn the capital into a

sustainable city and showcase the country’s

natural and cultural heritage. By introducing

green landscapes, the plan hopes to promote a

healthy lifestyle for residents that may extend

to an improved socio-economic circumstance.

The plan aims to attract tourist traffic. The new

park was overseen by the Crown Prince as a

project under the 10

th

National Development

Plan (RKN10).

The park has several features including a

six-metre wide promenade & cycling lane,

children’s playgrounds, a pedestrian bridge

which reaches Batu Satu, and multiple access

points both by land and water. Its main feature

is a round park 130 metres in diameter. The park

was initially a plan to dredge the Sg Kedayan

river bed, with a wall to be built to lessen flood

impacts but the plan was later revised and

developed to become the park.
