When it comes to studying abroad, there are
many factors to take into account. Accredited by
the Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation
Council under the Ministry of Education, Findlay
(B) Sdn Bhd provides a range of services through
the entire journey in pursuing higher education
overseas.
The agency’s services include reviewing
personal statements, assisting with university
applications, running pre-departure brie ngs,
making language test arrangements and
making housing applications. Findlay also
offers consultation to walk students through
their needs, goals, visa applications and
budget. Using its comprehensive and up-to-
date research databases, Findlay helps nd
suitable universities, colleges and programmes
for students.
Another long established agency is the HRDS
Education Services. As a Bruneian agency
established in 1997, HRDS Education Services
started by managing several projects to bridge
connections between local institutions and
overseas partners.
Initially starting with just Australian
universities, HRDS Education Services grew
to cover the UK, Malaysia and Singapore
universities, all of which are now part of their
diverse client list of institutions to choose
from. The agency works to meet the institution
standards and deliver quality counselling to
place students into their ideal university. HRDS
Education Services offers their service for free
for the universities they promote.
In terms of scholarship opportunities, apart
from the Brunei Government, students may
obtain scholarships from other sources to study
abroad. Many Bruneians continue their studies
in other Commonwealth countries or other
countries such as the United Kingdom (UK),
United States (US) and Australia.
The renowned Chevening Scholarship is
awarded by the British High Commission
to individuals who demonstrate leadership
potential and strong academic backgrounds.
The scholarship offers full nancial support for
future leaders to study for an eligible Master’s
degree at any UK university while also gaining
access to a range of exclusive academic,
professional and cultural experiences.
Students also have the opportunity to study
in Japan through the Japanese Embassy in
Brunei Darussalam. The Japanese government
scholarships allow Bruneians to broaden their
horizons and contribute to the development of
both Japan and Brunei.
