ROYAL BRUNEI CULINARY (RBC)
Royal Brunei Culinary (RBC), previously known as
Royal Brunei Catering, is a company under the
purview of Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd and is
the nation’s leading provider of premium culinary
services and food solutions in the country.
RBC of cially announced its rebrand in December
2020, coinciding with the launch of its new
Central Kitchen facility. The move from ‘Catering’
to ‘Culinary’ coupled with the new kitchen
signi es RBC’s new focus on growing itself
further as a large-scale F&B solutions provider.
With its centralised operations, and the greater
ef ciencies that come with it, RBC has quadrupled
its potential daily output. With the capacity and
potential to expand, RBC will be looking for more
strategic partners while serving its existing clients
in the airlines and healthcare industry.
RBC has continued to offer unique culinary
experiences throughout the past year; with travel
restrictions in place due to the pandemic, RBC
launched a pop-up airline themed restaurant
last November at Anjung Saujana Restaurant
in Brunei International Airport. RBC offered
diners a unique and immersive experience,
reminding everyone of the forgotten avours of
in ight dining. The promotion was met with an
overwhelming response from the public, being
fully booked for its entire run. Soon after In ight
by RBC, another immersive dining experience
was introduced at Anjung Saujana – The ‘Holiday
Market by RBC’ transformed the restaurant into
a holiday themed winter wonderland. Offering
continental and traditional homemade festive
meals, it showcased a new culinary direction
for RBC, receiving positive reviews by both the
public as well as the media.
Another recent development of RBC is its
collaboration with One Village One Product
(1K1P). Under this initiative launched by the
Ministry of Home Affairs, RBC will be assisting
local businesses to mass produce their classic
and premium 1K1P products for the wider
market and future possible exports. In addition
to its 1K1P collaboration, RBC is also committed
to supporting small and medium enterprises
(SMEs) through the outsourcing of its kitchen and
commissary services, competitive procurement
of raw materials and the use of its test kitchen
facilities. For the past six months, RBC has had
meetings with numerous SMEs with hopes to
see many partnerships come to fruition mid-
2021.
Supporting the country’s needs at the start of the
pandemic in Brunei, RBC was the sole provider
of quarantine meals on behalf of the Ministry
of Health. All of RBC staff were redeployed,
working together to deliver quarantine meals to
all districts. All methods of transport were used
by RBC including boats to deliver to Kampong
Ayer and bicycles in more remote areas. Patients
admitted to the National Isolation Centre in
Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji
Al-Muhtadee Billah Hospital, Tutong continue
to be served with meals meticulously prepared
by RBC.
Moving forward with the consolidation of
its operations, new facility, new brand and
refreshed approach, RBC continues to provide
food solutions for the aviation and healthcare
industry as well as major events while supporting
the development of local businesses. RBC is also
in the process of developing its own products for
retail purposes. The company strives to be the
backbone of Brunei’s F&B industry and looks
forward to further collaboration with micro and
large enterprises. As Royal Brunei Culinary, it
aims to expand beyond the domestic market and
bring the taste of modern Brunei overseas in the
very near future.
