EDUCATION

provide undergraduate students with work

experience of day-to-day operations at selected

organisations so that they understand the

practical-work processes and gain valuable

insights into the aspirations, needs and views

of the organisation they are attached at.

The attachment usually commences after

Second Semester Final Examination period.

However, for Bachelor of Science in Islamic

Finance and Bachelor of Business Management

programmes, the duration of attachment is 22

weeks.

As of August 2018, UNISSA has recorded a

10 per cent increase in student enrolment. To

accommodate the growing number of students,

His Majesty The Sultan has consented for

the allocation of a site at Mukim Labu in

the Temburong District, together with the

construction of the university’s permanent

campus under the 11

th

National Development

Plan. In his Titah delivered at UNISSA’s 8th

Hafl Al-Takharruj (Convocation Ceremony), the

monarch also expressed hope that the campus

would further boost UNISSA’s reputation as a

hub for higher Islamic education in the region.

As of January 2019, UNISSA has 1,093

undergraduate and 169 postgraduate students,

of which 10 per cent are international students

from Asia, Middle East, and Africa. There are 91

academic staff, of which 30 are expatriates. The

university has produced 1,271 graduates since

its first convocation in November 2011. With

the increase in student enrolment, UNISSA is

becoming the choice for local and international

students to further their higher education in

Islamic studies.
