INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY & CREATIVE INDUSTRY

Brunei Darussalam has identified the technology

and creative industry as one of the clusters that

can help diversify the economy. The country

has set aside two industrial parks to develop

the technology and creative Industry: the Digital

Junction and Anggerek Desa Technology Park.

Located at the Anggerek Desa Technology Park

is iCentre, an incubation centre for budding

technopreneurs and product innovators. Just

next door is the Knowledge Hub, also known

as KHub, with programmes and activities run in

partnership with companies such as Microsoft

and Sesame World Technology.

The technology and creative industry has

seen a few notable foreign direct investments

(FDIs) in recent years, one of which is CAE

Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC).

Operational since 2014, CAE Brunei MPTC is

one of Southeast Asia’s largest flight simulator

training centres, equipped with world-class

facilities.

Digital media and Internet of Things

Driven by a young and tech-savvy population,

Southeast Asia is quickly becoming the world’s

fastest growing Internet market with millions

of new users coming online every month.

According to the Digital 2019 report released by

Hootsuite and WeAreSocial, most of Southeast

Asia’s nations are above the worldwide average

of 115 per cent for mobile penetration.

Brunei’s mobile penetration rate has continued

to surge upwards for the past five years.

According to AITI, the country’s mobile
