Celebrating 66 Years

of MINIWorldwide

and 13 Years of MINI in Brunei

Innovative. Unique. Iconic. The MINI caused a sensation with its design and rather small size in the late

1950s thanks to its inventor, Englishman Alec Issigonis.  Sir Alec Issigonis had an idea: he took a napkin

and sketched an economical compact car that conserved resources. The MINI developed into a cult car

over the years and has many prominent fans to this day. The car cuts a fine figure on the race track, too –

its go-kart feel is still legendary today.

I

n 2025, the world celebrated 66 years

of MINI — the iconic British brand that

revolutionised compact car design since

its debut in 1959. In Brunei, the story began

a little later — in February 2012, when MINI

officially launched in Bandar Seri Begawan,

marking the beginning of a new chapter for

car enthusiasts in the Sultanate. Thirteen

years on, MINI Brunei continues to redefine

urban mobility with its bold personality,

cutting-edge technology and unmistakable

charm.

MINI Brunei made its official debut in 2012

under the dealership of QAF Auto Sdn Bhd,

bringing in models like the MINI Cooper

Hatch, MINI Clubman, MINI Paceman and

MINI Countryman. The launch was met

with enthusiasm by a new generation of

drivers in Brunei who admired MINI’s blend

of style, agility and heritage. The arrival of

MINI brought a refreshing alternative to the

local car market — premium, compact, and

full of personality.
