this advice: “One thing that should be
considered a lot is the marketability of
your degree, whether it’s here in Brunei
or abroad. There’s a huge variety of things
to study now – but it’s also important to think
about what career you want after your degree.”
Some students thrive in the cosy security of home,
where your favourite dishes are always nearby and
family is a phone call (or room) away. Others need to get
out, explore and find out how far they can go –literally and
figuratively.
The good news? Both paths have produced successful, well-
rounded Bruneians. Whether you’re sketching out your thesis at
a local university or pulling all-nighters in a library somewhere
in New Zealand, what really matters is how you apply yourself.
Passion, perseverance and good old-fashioned grit will take you
far, no matter where you plant your feet.
So whether you’re Team Local or Team Overseas, just remember
– further studies aren’t a competition. It’s your journey. Do the
research, speak to alumni, stalk the course details (like the thorough
student you are), and don’t forget to ask yourself what you trulywant.
And hey, whichever you choose, there’s always a good reason to
come home with a suitcase full of snacks.
