EXCEPTIONAL CAMPUS

JIS believes that education goes beyond the

classroom. That’s why the school provides

exceptional facilities, including 27 state-of-

the-art science laboratories, an extensive

Performing Arts Centre and music faculty,

as well as art, design and technology studios.

The library provides a comfortable and

modern learning space for students. The

Outdoor Discovery Centre - an eco-forestry

initiative on the campus is regularly used for

activities and as an Outdoor Classroom. The

sports facilities are second to none, with two

swimming pools (including an Olympic size-

50 metre pool), three air-conditioned sports

halls, three covered netball/basketball courts

and three football/rugby pitches. A bespoke

Racquet Sports Centre includes four squash

courts, two championship level tennis courts

and cricket practice nets.

BOARDING FACILITIES

JIS ‘Home fromHome’ Boarding facilities for

students cater to the needs of its weekly and

full-time boarders. There are two girls’ Houses

(Osprey and Kingfisher House) and two boys’

Houses (Eagle and Ibis House). Dedicated

boarding staff providecomprehensivecare for

students, offering support and guidance and

innovative initiatives specifically catered to

the needs of boarders. The school’s inclusive

boarding environment enables boarders to

create cherishedmemories and form life-long

friendships.

PASTORAL CARE

All students and teachers in the school are

members of a House, which is designed to

provide pastoral care, foster competition and

promote camaraderie among the students.

There are 16 Houses in the Senior School,

all named after birds in Borneo, which are

single-gendered. The brother and sister

Houses collaborate for a range of events

and social activities. Each House has its own

leadership team, including a House Captain

and Deputy Captain, as well as other students

in various unique leadership positions. House

competitions take place weekly and include

a variety of events such as sports, arts, talent

shows, debates, spelling bees and quizzes.

interests is important to the school. JIS offers

a strongco-curricular programmewith almost

300 activities to choose from, including a

wide range of sports and arts activities, the

its campus. JIS students are provided with

enriching opportunities to participate in

a range of local and international events,

including FOBISIA competitions, UK Maths
