he founding of Management and
Science University (MSU) was driven
by conviction rather than chance.
Prof Tan Sri Dato Wira Dr Mohd Shukri Ab.
Yajid, MSU President and Founder explained
that the idea to establish the university
stemmed from his belief that education
must go beyond academic achievement. To
him, education should shape individuals who
are intelligent, value-driven, and grounded
in humanity.
“From the very beginning, my vision was
to build a university that bridges the gap
between academic knowledge and industry
demands, while providing equal access to
quality education for all,” he shared.
MSU was founded on the philosophy
of transforming lives and enriching the
future. Its core mission has always been to
produce graduates who are employable,
entrepreneurial, and globally competitive—
while remaining firmly rooted in strong
values.
MSU: Shaping Tomorrow’s Graduates
Since its beginnings as Kolej Universiti
Teknologi dan Pengurusan Malaysia
(KUTPM) in 2001, MSU has experienced
remarkable growth. The institution achieved
full university status in 2007, marking a
significant milestone in shaping Malaysia’s
higher education landscape. From a
specialised college, MSU has evolved into
a globally recognised institution with 10
satellite campuses nationwide, as well as
international offshore campus in Bangalore,
Colombo, and Jakarta. Today, MSU offers
more than 200 programmes across
undergraduate and postgraduate studies,
TVET, micro-credentials, and short courses.
“Earning a place in the QSWorld University
Rankings and the Times Higher Education
(THE) World University Rankings is a
testament to our progress,” said Prof Shukri.
He views MSU’s evolution as the story of a
local institution growing into a globally
connected, industry-driven, and future-
focused university.
Central to MSU’s approach is the balance
between
academic
excellence
and
practical, industry-relevant learning. With
input from more than 3,000 industry
partners through the University Industry
Advisory Panel, its programmes remain
closely aligned with evolving market
needs. Students gain valuable hands-on
experience through internships, industry
projects, entrepreneurship initiatives, and
global mobility programmes. This strong
integration of theory and practice has
contributed to MSU achieving a 99 per cent
Graduate Employability rate and 99.7 per
cent GraduateMarketability in theMinistry of
Higher Education’s 2024 tracer study. Further
affirming its impact, Talentbank namedMSU
the Employers’ Choice of University for 2025.
