poverty through education. This reflects the

bank’s belief that an investment in learning

is an investment in the nation’s future

workforce and leaders. To date, a total of 338

students have been registered and are active

participants under the programme. Among

them, 90 students are currently pursuing

higher education at various institutions

locally and abroad.

Complementing this, the BIBD Sustainability

Youth Leadership Award recognises and

empowers young leaders whose projects

champion

responsible

consumption,

sustainable lifestyles and better waste

management, nurturing a generation that

is both socially conscious and confident.

By spotlighting youth voices and initiatives,

BIBD helps shape a lifestyle where service

and sustainability are seen as aspirational,

not optional.

These efforts make education more

accessible while giving young Bruneians

platforms to grow, contribute and lead,

aligning closely withWawasan Brunei 2035’s

vision of well-educated and highly skilled

people.

EMPOWERING

ENTREPRENEURS AND

BOOSTING FINANCIAL

LITERACY

As Bruneians increasingly explore small

businesses and home-grown brands, BIBD

has stepped forward as both financier and

mentor for local entrepreneurs. The bank

recognises that a vibrant entrepreneurial

scene is not only good for the economy but

also enriches everyday lifestyle with more

local products, services and experiences.

BIBD SEED (Special Entrepreneurial

Empowerment and Development Scheme)

is an award-winning programme launched to

support underprivileged women, equipping

themwith entrepreneurial skills and helping

them become competitive, resilient business

owners. Through mentoring, basic financial

planning and access to micro-financing,

participants are guided to turn ideas

into income and, eventually, sustainable

enterprises.

Beyond funding, BIBD regularly incorporates

financial planning, business planning and

leadership content into its community and

education programmes, building financial

literacy among youth, aspiring entrepreneurs

and everyday customers. This focus on

practical know-how helps Bruneians learn

to budget, save, invest and manage debt

more confidently, which directly shapes

their lifestyle choices and long-term security.

For many, this combination of financial

education and entrepreneurial support turns

banking from something transactional into a

journey of empowerment that touches family

life, career growth, and personal confidence.

COMMUNITY, CSR AND A

CULTURE OF GIVING BACK

BIBD’s lifestyle impact is also felt through its

deep community involvement, particularly in

areas of welfare, health and social support.

Guided by Islamic values and the Maqasid

Shariah principle of preserving public good,

the bank continues todesign corporate social

responsiibilty (CSR) programmes that uplift

vulnerable groups and strengthen social

cohesion.

The bank has supported national-level

initiatives such as donations for orphans

and academic achievers, underpinning both

social protection and excellence in education.

These programmes give immediate relief

while signalling to young Bruneians that

their achievements and well-being matter

to the wider community.

Projek Teduh stands as BIBD’s latest

flagship CSR, dedicated to rebuilding safe

homes for vulnerable families across Brunei.

This endeavour reflects BIBD’s enduring

mission to foster community well-being
