Borneo Bulletin Yearbook 2021

The Eco Resort project is estimated to cost

BND4.5 million and aims to create luxury, safe,

trusted and attractive tourism products with

complete facilities that can be enjoyed by local

and foreign tourists.

In addition, upgrading works of the old

Temburong District Office in Pekan Bangar will

be implemented to serve as an information

centre for visitors as well as displays of local

traditional products and handicrafts.

Meanwhile, the second project is estimated

to cost BND387,000. The longboat services

between Kampong Batang Duri and National Ulu

Belalong Park will be maintained at a high safety

level for all visitors at all times.

Medical Tourism

In recent years, the government, through the

Jerudong Park Medical Centre, Pantai Jerudong

Specialist Centre and Gleneagles Jerudong Park

Medical Centre, has participated in overseas

exposition to highlight the centre of excellence

in Brunei Darussalam, especially for cardiac and

stroke care, as well as for rehabilitation and

cancer treatment.

A number of foreign patients have sought

treatment in Brunei Darussalam for various

health ailments.

Several partnerships have also been inked to

further improve the quality and effectiveness

of healthcare for all Bruneians and make Brunei

Darussalam among one of the medical tourist

destinations for quality patient care.

Sports and Adventure Tourism

Sports and adventure tourism has grown in

popularity as more and more people recognise

the health benefits of active holidays.

In September 2019, the Ministry of Primary

Resources and Tourism officially launched the

Brunei Sports and Adventure brochure, which

is an initiative by the Tourism Development

Department to showcase tourism products in the

country, offering insights into recreational sports

and adventure activities available.

Examples include jungle camping and glamping,

jungle hiking, mountain biking, outward bound,

paintball, abseiling/ climbing, standup paddling,

watersports, ziplining, 4×4 off-road adventure,

all-terrain vehicle (ATV), archery, birdwatching,

diving and golf.
