In the oil and gas industry, Schlumberger is well‐

known for providing the most comprehensive

range of technology products and services.

They are the world’s leading provider of

technology for reservoir characterisation,

drilling, production and processing to the oil and

gas industry.

Schlumberger currently operates in more

than 85 countries and employs approximately

100,000 people worldwide representing over

140 nationalities.

The company is proud to have been operating

in Brunei for over 80 years and employs 190

people of which 73 per cent are local.

As part of its local content strategy and to

guide the nation towards Brunei Vision 2035,

Schlumberger has introduced programmes to

develop local talents who are being offered

employment overseas as well as local jobs

and careers. Schlumberger also has internship

programmes with priority given to local

universities and polytechnics. The company

recently increased the number of internships,

providing more opportunities for students to get

an exposure to the oil and gas industry.

Supporting Academic Curriculum

To enhance students’ learning practices and

support the development of their academic

curriculum, Schlumberger donated a petroleum

engineering software to Universiti Teknologi

Brunei, Universiti Brunei Darussalam and

Politeknik Brunei. In September 2018, an

educational visit was held by Schlumberger in

Schlumberger

Seria with 27 students and one lecturer from

Politeknik Brunei. Students observed with

great interest how Schlumberger engineers

were trained and had the opportunity to see

equipment and facilities used in the oil and gas

industry.

Schlumberger believes that empowering the

educational advancement of school children and

women makes for powerful contribution to the

local economies.

SEED

Schlumberger

Excellence

in

Education

Development (SEED) is the company’s

educational programme founded in 1998,

focussing on communities where Schlumberger

people live and work. Through SEED,

Schlumberger trains employees, retirees,

volunteers, and educators to share their passion

for learning and science with students all over

the globe. Another programme HSE for Youth

aims to bring safety awareness to the younger

population in the community.

In January 2019, Schlumberger conducted a

SEED and HSE for Youth Workshop at Sekolah

Rendah Perpindahan Kampong Lambak Kanan

Jalan 10 in Brunei-Muara District. A total of 125

students from five different schools (Year 5 and

6) participated in this eventful day with mini

science projects and HSE activities.

With 83 years of history in Brunei, Schlumberger

will continue to be a key player in the country

and contribute to educational projects that

develop young local talents globally and for the

oil and gas industry in particular.
