visualisation platform for learning,

maintenance,

and

emergency

response. Today, about 20 per cent

of employees have experienced and

utilised the Digital Twin technology. It

has already helped to find documents

and drawings much quicker than

before, increasing efficiency. It has

also helped newcomers and non-

technical employees to understand

the plant better. These examples of

digitalisation have given a head start in

paving the way for the future of work.

Brunei LNG is currently conducting

laser scanning of its plant to create a

photo-realistic 3D model of the plant,

similar to Google Maps Street View, a

component of the digital twin.

Adaptation to digital transformation

is vital in the ever-growing industry.

Brunei LNG is proud to be the first ever

pilot in all Shell Joint Venture Assets

to use laser scan technology with

Autonomous Integrity Recognition

(AIR) technology where it is used for

corrosion detection. AIR technology

gives industrial equipment the ability

to “see” what it is doing and make rapid

decisions based on what it sees – in

simple terms, putting a brain behind a

camera.

Using this technology, and comparing

it against the traditional manual field

inspection, it results in a reduction

of over 90 per cent of field hours

and consequently results in the HSE

exposure. It also increases the site

coverage by 30 per cent, getting into

tough-to-see areas that human eyes

may miss. It is one of the many ways

of transforming and digitalising Brunei

LNG, improving safety, reliability, and

efficiency.

Brunei LNG continues making great

strides in enabling its Connected

Worker – a key solution to promote

safety, improve productivity, work

efficiency and boost connectivitywithin

the workforce, by revolutionising the

way tasks are performed with the use of

combined hardware wearables, mobile

devices, network, and software tools.

A great example of how the workforce

is connected towards the future is

the Digital Smart Helmet, allowing

operators in the plant to make voice

and video calls with others remotely,

including externally located vendors

and subject matter experts who are

not physically on-site. In February 2023,

the maintenance team successfully

performed a jetty rail car function test

with the equipment specialist remotely

using the Digital Smart Helmet. The

specialist, located in the UK, was able

to provide remote assistance through

voice and video calls, enabling the local

team to move forward with a solution,

resulting in the saving of both time and

cost.

Brunei LNG is actively investing in

building the digital capability for the

organisation and its people, upskilling

local Bruneians to be digitally savvy and

digitally literate creating a highly skilled

workforce ready for the future of work.

An

objective

for

accelerating

digitalisation is to allow early efficiency

gains and consequently supporting

cost management and bottom-line,

thereby contributing towards Brunei

Vision 2035 goals of a dynamic and

sustainable economy.

Brunei LNG, continues to be the

engine of growth for Brunei. In 2022

alone, Brunei LNG has contributed

BND1.3 billion to the Brunei economy.

Brunei LNG remains a competitive and

reliable business, a trusted partner for

energy transition, generating revenue

to fund opportunities towards a

green economy. Brunei LNG is also

actively investing in building the digital

capability for the organisation and its

people, upskilling local Bruneians to

be digitally savvy and digitally literate

creating a highly skilled workforce

ready for the future of work.

As a business and as a Bruneian

company, Brunei LNG is committed to

transforming as a business, sustaining

its operations, and continuing to

be a key contributor to the nation’s

economy. Brunei LNG is an engine of

growth for the country, and is invested

to continuously generate revenue to

power the progress of sustainability

efforts in Brunei Darussalam. Brunei

LNG and its shareholders are looking to

the future, transforming the business

to achieve Brunei LNG’s vision of being

a reliable, sustainable, and competitive

energy partner and an anchor to the

future of Brunei.
