BRUNEI GAS CARRIERS

Established in 1998, Brunei Gas

Carriers (BGC) is a joint venture

company incorporated in Brunei

Darussalam

by

the

Brunei

Government, Shell Gas BV and

Diamond Gas Carriers BV. With

the primary mission of delivering

liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Brunei’s

international clients, BGC has been

a vital force in contributing to the

nation’s economic growth.

The delivery of Bruneian LNG to Japan

began with Gadinia (later known as

Bebatik) in 1972. Since then, LNG

has become one of Brunei’s major

exports. BGC currently owns four

LNG vessels (Arkat, Amali, Amani and

Amadi) ranging from 147,000m

to

154,800m

.

The year 2023 marks BGC’s 25

th

anniversary,

demonstrating

its

resilience in supporting the nation’s

Hydrocarbon Value Chain, ensuring

timely and safe delivery of LNG to

Brunei’s international customers. At

present, the business opportunities

for BGCare centred on the provision of

services to Brunei LNG, delivering LNG

cargoes predominantly to its clients

in the Asia-Pacific region. The BGC

vessels have, from time to time, been

sub-chartered to the international

market, marking cargo deliveries to far

afield such as in South Asia, Middle East

and Europe, as well as a few instances of

LNG ship to ship transfers.

BGC aspires to develop its services and

expand beyond the delivery of LNG by

focussing on diversification as part of its

efforts to be a sustainable business. The

company is also committed to adopting

new technologies and practices that are

environmentally responsible and socially

conscious. This approach will not only

contribute to a better future for the

company, but also for the communities it

serves, creating a positive impact beyond

the horizon.
